Global Payments Innovations

Mike Salerno - First National Bank



Michael A. Salerno is Lead Director of Global Banking at First National Bank in Omaha, Nebraska where he manages a diverse portfolio of corporate and correspondent bank customers.  He consults with trade and treasury management professionals located throughout the US to help define, create, and implement effective global payments and international risk management solutions.  Michael specializes in providing foreign exchange and international payment solutions for financial institutions.  Michael is a member of the Nebraska District Export Council, and executive member and Treasurer of the National District export Council.  Michael also sits on the planning committee for the North American Regional Bank FX Forum.  Michael holds a BS in Finance and Banking from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and an Executive MBA from the University of Nebraska.

 


Increased volatility is putting more emphasis on global payments and trade.  This presentation will explain cross border payment systems, fees generated throughout the payment chain, and recent disruptors such as block chain, Swift GPI, Global ACH, and APIs.  We will also explore recent issues surrounding international trade including a strong dollar’s pressure on exports, NAFTA, Trade Policy, and EXIM Bank.  Finally, we will discuss factors impacting the market and currencies in Asia, EU, and North America.
